Look Ma No Tooth...

She didn't pull it...but she wanted to...
Now that Annika has that tooth out of the way she has instantly become older. We let the girls text each other between our phones the other day and as Lena lounged on the couch texting I found Annika up in her room, door closed, shade pulled, lights off, under the covers. When I asked her what she was doing she said, "Texting!". What a glimpse into our future..oy! We then let the girls play with our old phones (batteries out) and Annika has stayed up two nights in a row "getting my texting done". This after Jason said she couldn't have her phone in bed with her, but she asked me on the sly because I didn't know that he had made that rule...double oy!! Then there was yesterday. Yesterday Annika stayed home from school with a cough due to cold. I made her a cup of tea with honey, she laid on the couch, got her purse out, started texting and declared, "Texting and tea. I am a real woman now!"...triple oy!!! Side note: My clever husband later responds, "What makes her a real woman? Drinking tea or laying on the couch?" Hahahahaha...would you like fish or fish for dinner honey?

The White Tighted Bandit...

A couple of weeks ago we took the girls to a University of Washington Lady Huskies basketball game. According to three out of four people in our household it was fun. According to the youngest member of our brood it was "no fun at all". Whatever you say Dramannika! Back in November I stumbled across this great deal that UW was hosting...Daddy Daughter Day at the Lady Husky games. For a mere 20 bucks a person you get tickets to five different events, a free shirt, motivational speeches, and a picture. It is cute and sweet and fun (well some of us think it is fun). It is also sort of funny. Not the basketball part...that's not funny...the part that involves stadium "security" (you know the "security guards" that take your ticket and show you which section you are in?) and three little girls.

About halfway through the second half I noticed four, count them four, stadium security team members conferencing right below our section. They were very seriously discussing some goings-on in the upper reaches of the gymnasium. Now I have been to my fair share of college events and this conferring of security usually means one thing and one thing only...the forbidden alcohol...dum dum dum. As I watched the serious meeting unfold I wondered who would have smuggled alcohol into a basketball game that started at noon and was comprised of 400 little girls. As I pondered this I overheard one of the guards say "It's the one in the white tights, I just can't catch her!" As I turned in my seat to see the offensive white tighted beer swigger I was surprised to see a 5 year old girl wearing white tights and playing a mean game of tag with two of her posse members. Apparently it is a no-no to run in the last row of the Bank of America Arena and apparently it takes four people to take these girls down! As the elected guard slowly made the climb to Row 31 Section 6 to squash this raucous behavior I had to laugh...oh how times have changed. I'm just glad it wasn't my kid in white tights because that security guard meant business. Oh wait, that's right, it wouldn't have been my kid because she was to busy "having no fun at all"!

What the What...

At night our dogs sleep in cages. They sleep in cages because they do annoying things like the random poop or pee at 3am. They can't be trusted. Lobo is fairly new to the cage sleeping. He likes to lament to me that he went 14 whole years roaming free and now NOW he has to sleep in a cage. I retaliate with the reasonable explanation that if a dog doesn't want to sleep in a cage then perhaps a dog shouldn't leave little nuggets lying around the house! They each have their own cage, but the other night, for some odd reason, Lobo decided he was going to bunk with Ringo. Is it me or does Ringo not look real comfortable with this situation?
All I have to say is this...if my parents ever come to live with us in old age and they too leave nuggets lying around...a cage might be in their future. They have been warned!

Shove Over Tonya Harding...

Oh wait...maybe I shouldn't provoke Tonya like that. She knows people. People with clubs. And come to think of it...I rather like my knees, they've been good to me! And I really think the girls' knees are, well, the bee's knees. So call off your thugs, Tonya...there is nothing to see here (except, of course, some amazing amateur skating!).

I think I am improving...
