The Mom Squad...

I am now contributing over on The Mom Squad...5 moms rollin' and patrollin' the KC. KC is Kitsap County for those of you that live outside the boundaries. I will mainly post mid-month, but have a very riveting (dare I say nail biting?) post up as we speak. Go che-che-check it out at The Mom Squad and thanks for all your support fans. Fans? Did I really just say fans? Do you really think I might have fans? Oooo...how Angelina Jolie of me.

Speaking of Angelina Jolie, did you know that I once looked like her? It's true! A little over three years ago we went to Montana for my girl friend Little Ashley's (not to be confused with Tall Ashley) birthday party. We were tailgating at a UM Grizzly game and a yellow jacket flew inside my Mike's Hard Lemonade. He didn't enjoy being in there and since I didn't notice he was in fact trapped when I went to take a sip he attacked. My lip immediately started to swell, but only the bottom left side of it. Later as we were driving along Jason looked over and said, "You look kind of hot with that Angelina Jolie lip". When I turned to say, "Really?" he then got a good look at the fact that it was only plumped on one side. He then shuddered, "Oh never mind!" Apparently, it is entirely possible for one to look like Angelina Jolie from the side, but straight on you just look like that crazy homeless lady that lives under the bridge. I guess you can't win them all!

Like A Rock Star...

It happened my friends. We went to Bon Jovi. We saw. We survived. It was a fun night...a fun night had by all. All those over 40 years old that is. When we got to the concert Jason looked around and said in his best The Sixth Sense voice, "I see old people". Lest I remind him he is not that far off from the Bon Jovi-loving age bracket. Bon Jovi even sold a t-shirt that said "My mom went to Bon Jovi and never came home". It was great people watching. Black boot wearing ladies love Jon. The cougars love Jon. The roid-raging 20 something guys trying to bag cougars love Jon. Women with fake boobies and even faker hair love Jon. They were all in agreement (myself included)...Jon is dreamy.

Now on to the show itself. It was good...very entertaining...long (they played for 2 hours)...but (there is always a but), I understand that you are promoting a new album and all...but I don't want to hear it! I don't care that you have 7 new songs...I don't want to hear them. To paraphrase the very funny Greg Behrendt , "I need an adult rock show...starts at 7pm...no young punks...band plays one hour...no opening band...play the songs we came to hear...home by 9pm...I have a date with pajamas and a couch...let's go!"

And so it begins...
Mama is ready to rock...
Yeah...I don't think anyone is really trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes here. Did you look at the crowd on hand?
I see you Jon. I see you with my binoculars. Girls with binoculars are very popular with all their surrounding seatmates. At least that's what I was telling myself...
Oh look...Jon sees me too. "Hi Stacey! I thought that was you up there"...
After the concert I was ready to keep the party going. I really wanted to go downtown, but first we had to stop at the grocery store and get Jason a sandwich (he's cra-a-zy) and then he talked me into not going downtown, but going one block away to the dueling piano bar. Which turned out to be a ton of fun. So much fun we stayed until 1:30am. Talk about cra-a-zy!!
Look we bought a test tube shot. From a shot girl. How Spring Break '98 of us...
Sunday morning I was thankful for two things. One: I have such an awesome hubby that will show me such an awesome time and Two: We have such an awesome family that will take the girls overnight and we can sleep in until 9:30am, because come morning mama wasn't so cra-a-zy anymore!

Finally Friday...

We all have our vices. Judge not lest you be judged...
**side note** Jason and I will attending the Bon Jovi concert tomorrow night. I hope Jon wears his protective armor because this mama may just be tempted to throw her bra onstage and we all know that puppy ain't your little sister's training bra!

Stuck On You...

Yesterday the girls and I headed into the city for a little fun. We were headed to a day of fighting and bickering until I decided we needed a detour. A detour in the form of the aquarium and Pikes Market. As we were perusing the market we bought some strawberries. The hip and with it fruit guy noticed the girls were chewing gum. He asked if they were going to put it on the bubble gum wall. Where is the bubble gum wall, I inquired. Go to the fish throwers, take a left past the pig, you'll see a teeny little staircase, and that will lead you to the bubble gum wall, he informed. After wandering the rest of the market we headed back to the fish throwers, took a left at the pig, and found the teeny little staircase. Fruit Guy's directions should have read: Go halfway down the teeny staircase. Go back up to get Annika who is afraid to go down on her own. Try to avoid that puddle that may or may not be pee. Venture past the boarded up window and soggy concert fliers into what appears to be an alley. An alley where you are all by yourself. Hold mama's hand tightly all the while thanking goodness it is still light out. But we found it (and then some other tourists came along so that was good) and it was gummy. It isn't just a little wall. It is feet and feet up and down of gum. Crazy! Cool! And sort of gross!

Every inch is covered in gum...
Adding their contribution...
Get me a vat of hand sanitizer STAT Dr. McDreamy...
See I'm hip and with it too Fruit Guy...I just want to be germ-free at the same time!

Waynes World, Party Time..

This past weekend Jason flew to Bozeman, MT to celebrate his good friend Russ's 40th birthday. Jason is friends with Russ from back in the day of East Glacier, MT. Russ is married to Jen. Jen is my childhood friend. Russ and Jen introduced Jason and I. You got all that? Good! The 40th birthday bash was a four day affair filled with family, friends, fun, skiing, imbibing, murder mystery, and laughter. Lots and lots of laughter. Jen not only threw a bash that will be talked about for years to come, but one that is going to be very hard to compete with for us other wives. Thanks a lot Jen!!!

This is Russ and Jason with Mark in between. Mark...oh how to describe Mark in words. Mark is funny and fun and unpredictable and zany and kind hearted. Everybody's life should have a little Mark in it (and I know Mark will have some smart a** comment to go along with that) because he brings the good times. Jason, Russ, and Mark used to run around together in East Glacier...I didn't know them then and I think that might be a good thing...
Saturday night there was an 80's themed murder mystery party where Jason apparently went as the ever popular 90's character Garth from Wayne's World. Mark paid $30 bucks for his "mohawk" and by the looks of it had to walk around sideways all night long to optimize the awesomeness... Apparently there was also a portion of the evening when an air saxophone-off with Paul (Russ's brother-in-law) seemed like a good idea... I am quite positive Jason had a good time. He came home with a raspy voice and has had a cold for the past three days. Old friends will do that to ya...and that is why we love them so!!!!

Finally Friday...

I am going to start something new here on Oh Happy Days. How many of you knew that was the name of my blog? Huh? Really? That many? I was just testin' ya. I really look forward to Fridays because it means Jason's last day of the work week, the girls' last day of the school week, we often times go out to dinner, lazing in pajamas and making pancakes is just around the corner, and the fun weekend is almost upon us. However, sometimes a week can seem long...it gets hectic, tiring, yada yada yada. Sometimes I hear people say, "Finally it is Friday!". Enter in my plan. I am going to start a weekly post on Friday titled Finally Friday that will be accompanied by a funny photo. Something that might make you say, "Well that just made my craptastic week a whole lot better!"...cause we all know I have that sort of power.

4 years ago Annika fell in the toilet...and I left her there so I could run go get the camera. Yeah, that's the kind of mother I am...

Does this Apron Make My Butt Look Big...

I have to admit...I stole that title from my friend Jenny over at Jenny On the Spot. She has been known to ask that about various things. Like the time I saw a picture of her with a pan of brownies in front of her butt and the tag line "Does this pan of brownies make my butt look big?" She's funny like that. Anyhoo...this post is not about Jenny (though there is a little bit about Jenny at the end. How is that for baiting?)...so I'll get on with it.

Last November was my mom's birthday. A couple of months ahead of time she had dropped hints that she wanted me to make her an apron. Technically I don't know if the hints were really dropped. More like thrown. As in..."So are you going to give me an apron for my birthday?". I got the hint and got to sewing. I ended up taking a couple of old aprons from either my great aunt or my great grandmother or my grandmother (no one will claim them...or can remember them) and refashioned them into a brand new spankin' apron. I used coordinating new fabric to round it all out. I was quite proud of myself and was feeling especially emotional thinking how special it was to make something that was old new again and every time my mom put it on she could be reminded not only of me but of her aunt or grandmother or mother. I wrapped it up, sent it to my mom along with a lovely note that read, "If this apron doesn't make you cry with sentimentality you have the heart of a stone! Oh and happy birthday". She, in fact, loved it and when she put it on to show my gramma, my gramma's response was, "That's pretty, but I am just concerned that it is going to make you look wide!" Really? Because that is what we are all worried about while slaving away in the kitchen? Looking wide? I would be more concerned that the raw cookie dough I am eating is the culprit of my wideness...not the apron!

The ties that bind and the gingham material is from the afore mentioned great aunt or great grandmother or grandmother...
And speaking of Jenny of Jenny On the Spot...she used to write a spot over at our local newspaper's blog and she decided she wanted to expand it. She asked me and three other moms to join her in posting about our amusing/interesting/everyday happenings. That's right people...I am soon to be a published blogger!! Like for real!! I am one step closer to achieving my dream of world dominance. Moohhahahaha!
