Father's Day dawned gray, misty, and a wee bit chilly, but it was only the day before the official start of summer so what more could you expect. The skies did not dampen our love for Daddy though! After presents and a hearty meal of breakfast tacos we headed up to Sequim, WA for a little bike riding on a very nice paved trail through the woods. By the way, Sequim is considered in the "rain shadow" so it would be sunny for sure.
Upon arrival we had our picnic lunch huddled in the warm interior of the truck because although living up to it's rain shadow name, ie no rain, it was still only mid 50's and gloomy. True bikers will not be thwarted, though, and we headed out. There were many beautiful sights along the way. Among the prettiest being a field of red poppies...

About midway through our ride we emerged from the trees to the actual town of Sequim and headed to a funky coffee shop for a little warm up...

Not to mention some silly faces...

Our out and back ride totaled 17.1 miles. That's 17.1 miles that the girls pedaled/rode on their little bikes that are attached to ours. That's 17.1 miles of no complaining other than the occasional tired booty. That's 17.1 miles of doing something that Daddy loves. And at the end of that 17.1 miles we had two very tired girls on our hands...

We love Daddy!!!!
p.s. This coming weekend is Jason's big marathon debut. He has been faithfully training since February and is going to do awesome. We will be cheering him along the way with custom made t-shirts and glittery signs. GO DADDY GO!!!
p.p.s. It is officially the first day of summer and the PNW is alive with green grass, beautiful flowers, gray skies, rain, and a balmy 51 degrees. Come on Mother Nature...throw me a bone here. Global warming my foot. I'm starting to think that Al Gore is full of sh*t man!
