Last weekend we made the difficult decision to put our sweet Lobo to sleep. He had a wonderful running, hiking, frisbee catching, ranch cat chasing, belly rubbing, Lobo leaning, tail wagging 16 years. We take comfort knowing that he is in doggie heaven where the grass grows in Beggin' Strips, the frisbees automatically launch, the squirrels are slow for the chasing, and the clouds are made of raw hides. We are thankful that he was a wonderful companion to Jason starting in those early Montana years and a great dog to our girls. People always commented that it was as though he was smiling.
This coming summer Jason will spread Lobo's ashes on Mount Baldy behind East Glacier, MT where they used to hike together. One summer a movie was being filmed in Glacier. Jason and Lobo were out for a hike on Mount Baldy. The movie's star Annabella Sciorra was also on the mountain. Lobo broke through the celebrity pretension, ran right up to Annabella and gave her crotch a good old sniffin'. Jason likes to say that was one of Lobo's happiest moments so it's only fitting he should return there. We love you Lobo!

Such a hard choice, but a beautiful one too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm just adopting my second dog, and it's always hard to go into it knowing that I'll be facing that sadness eventually. It's always worth it though.
Hey Jay & Stacey. Angela & I remember Lobo "flying" around, jumping the fence in East Glacier. Sad to see the old fellow go. Good luck in Portland, keep in touch.
