Night Sans Kids...

On Friday the girls and I headed over to Seattle for a little R&R. I dropped them off at my cousin Kevin and his wife Helen's house (where I am sure no R&R was happening) and skipped into the city to meet Jason. Our big event you may ask? A Big Head Todd and the Monsters concert. When I would tell people who we were seeing most reactions were those of a quizzical ummmm yeah I haven't ever heard of them. To me they are one of my favorite bands and I dig em.

I knew ahead of time that it was going to be a late evening as the cover band didn't start until 9pm. Our plan was to get there early, get a table, sit back and enjoy. Well we didn't get there early (it isn't my fault Nordstrom is a black hole) and everyone else over the age of 40 had the same great "get a table" idea. So we left, got some drinks and appetizers, showed up late, and ended up standing. Which was fine at 8:30pm, but when we were still standing at midnight my dogs were barking. I finally had to slip off my shoes all the while praying I wasn't standing in any of the leftover vomit we spied earlier in the corner of the dance floor. However, there were upsides to the standing...BHTAM started playing at 10pm and rocked for 2 straight hours. They hardly even talked...just played and played and played. They sounded just like on the radio (which I love in a band) and they played all the songs I know and love.

So even though we may be a little old (there were complaints of being tired, feet hurting, ears bleeding from the noise level) we had a great time, got a hot dog (with grilled onions and cream cheese mind you) from a cart at midnight, and stayed in a fancy hotel. The next day we met up with our friends Victoria and Dan, tooled around the U District farmer's market, and had yummy Thai food. Gotta love that.

On the flip side...the girls were sufficiently spoiled with a dinner out, a trip to the toy store, playing Wii, and the zoo. They came home with so many facts about animals. Apparently Kevin and Helen take the time to read the information plaques to them...suckers!!:)

Preconcert self pick...
Jason mystified that they are still doing sound checks at 10pm. Bring on the Monsters...
Yea...they are singing. If you looked around we were some of the younger people in the crowd even though Jason kept commenting that everyone was "our age". Whatev...I am clinging to the early 30's like a bad habit, baby...
Big Head Todd rockin' out...he can play a mean guitar...
