No Child Left Behind...

This morning on PBS Kids the girls heard a promo for the "No Child Left Behind" program. Lena asked what that meant. Annika said it meant that all kids get to go to school. I said that Annika was correct...all children deserve to go to school and get a good education. Lena asked why wouldn't someone get to go to school. I tried to explain that in some neighborhoods it is very dangerous and it is hard for children to make it to school. Lena asked what kind of danger do they face. Before I could answer, Annika piped up with, "Bears?" Yes, Annika, I think that the main concern in south central LA is bears. If only the world could be as innocent as a little 6 year old living in the heart of Poulsbo. I think we'd all be much better off!
