A Four Hour Tour...
Saturday we packed up our lunch boxes and headed for the whales. The whales, the whales, the whales! We were excited to see those whales. We had visions of them leaping and frolicking beside our boat. Spouting their spouts. Doing all those crazy whale things that crazy whales do. The clouds would part and we would bathed in sunshine while those whales dove in and out of the water. Let's read on and see if that is really how it happened...

The girls are ready...
The boys are ready...
The waters were a little rough that day. Like pretty big waves rough. Like up and down, up and down as we sped towards the whales rough. Like it sort of made Jason want to puke rough. Like Annika complained that her stomach hurt rough. Like the lady behind us started to get pale rough. Like when she whipped out an egg salad sandwich to calm her stomach the smell of rotten eggs made me want to barf rough. Like squeals and giggles and hoots and hollers of "this is fun" from the girls rough.
Finally after about an hour we got to calmer seas. We are still lookin' for those whales, but in the meantime here are some seals...
Let's venture out to the upper deck to soak up some sun. Brrrr...it is windy and cold up here. Where are those whales?
And where did Chris get that party hat? I want one!
Wait...what is the captain saying? There has been a Minky Whale spotted about 7 minutes away...let's go! Come out, come out wherever you are Minky. Minky...oh Minky. That tricky whale. Where did he go? Apparently whales can hold their breath for a really long time and apparently Minky said, "I've had it with these whale watching boats. I am going to go underwater and not come up. Take that Americans and Canadians alike!" Oh Minky. But look...there is a mondo-sized eagle and some more seals...
And so we concluded our tour with not a single sight of a whale. I did see a little porpoise jump out of the water and we saw lots of seals, two eagles, some birds, and two sea lions. Plus lots of beautiful scenery and no one barfed. All in all a good day on the open seas! Oh and we get to go back for FREE another time! I say we go on a 90 degree, no wind day? Yeah, that's the ticket.
