Camptastic...

This past weekend we loaded up the trailer, hoisted the dogs in the back of the truck, locked up the house and set our sights for Fort Warden State Park in Port Townsend, WA along the beautiful shores of the Pudget Sound. Screeech (that is the sound of the music stopping mid-song)...what is wrong with the blinker light on the trailer? 20 minutes later it is fixed. OK...let's head out...screeeeech. Why isn't the trailer moving and what was that big clucklunk noise? Oh no, we ran over and got high centered on some great big rocks in our driveway. 35 minutes later and lots of sweaty rock digging and removing we rolling along the road. I AM HUNGRY....screeech. Let's make a quick stop at the burrito place for dinner (which we were suppose to have fireside) and move one. What the...? Son of a...! Why is that traffic not moving? 20 minutes later we turn the rig around and take a different route. Two hours and 30 minutes later we pull into our campsite (normally it is a 45 minute trip) and we realize it is dark and there is no wood for sale. Shall we just go to bed? I think so. The following pictures show the much smoother part of the weekend.

No spooky campfire stories for us...
Early morning dog walking. FYI...dogs are annoying to take camping. Wait, I take that back...our dogs are annoying to take camping. Lobo barks at every little thing and Ringo backs him right up. Oh and they have to do things like eat and pee. So annoying.
When we discovered the crows had a fondness for dog food right out of the dog dish the girls were assigned to Crow Patrol (said in my best Taylor Hicks voice)...
The fire starter and his little helper...

What is a birthday without cake? Really what is any day without cake?
Campers in a camper...
When the rain shower hit we headed inside for blankets, popcorn, and a movie. When I say we I mean everyone except me...I went shopping...
The sun did finally peek out on our last day. As you can see Annika is really enjoying it...
Along with the sun came a little wind...just enough to get the kite in the air for a couple of minutes...
Lena searching for the perfect shells for her newly founded shell collection...
Inside the mighty fort...that they did not build. That would sure be impressive if they did!
This camping trip was our first camping trip of summer and I guess our last considering today is the first day of fall. Better late than never!
