Our Non-Laborious Labor Day...

We were suppose to go camping this weekend. We were suppose to go play in the woods from Thursday night until Monday afternoon. The weather was suppose to be sunny and warm. The weather apparently did not receive the memo. The weather is windy, low 60's, rainy (I'm talkin' really rainy) one minute and sunny the next. Because of the weather we decided to not go camping. Rain is great and all, but not so much fun with two kids and two dogs and two adults and one small camper. Instead, we decided to stay home...a staycation if you will. However, we declared it a NO WORK zone in our house. Since we had planned on not working in the mountains, then we are not going to work in the non-mountains. Now let's not get to work.
FRIDAY: We hadn't ever taken the girls to the Olympic Hot Springs...rustic man made pools of warm sulfur smelling water that you have to hike 2.4 miles to get to. Just keep your eyes averted from your neighbor because they may or may not be wearing a bathing suit.
We hopped in the car and two Barbie movies later we were at the trail head...
Crossing the river wild...
Quite possibly the work of the Blair Witch...
Ahhhh....we made it to relaxation central...
The long hike back to the car...
Nothing satiates the appetite like a big ol' plate of meat...
SATURDAY: We hadn't ever spent much time in the birthplace of our state's laws. Olympia here we come.
Preparing to get up close and personal with some wolves at the rehabilitation center Wolf Haven. I wouldn't touch the real live wolves either if I were you girls...
Jason and I looking our wolfiest foxiest...
I don't know who looks meaner...the wolves or the girls...
He sure had a lot to say. In fact I think he was saying, "Hey tour group...get out of my space!"...
We learned from the pros...
I enjoyed spending time with you in our state's capital (said in my very best Forrest Gump voice)...
George and his peeps...
Annika's favorite part of the capital was the green, springy grass. "It is sooo beautiful!" "Look how it sproungs back up after you step on it!" "I love to run on it!" Our dead, sharp, brown grass doesn't get quite that reaction...
Being amused at the children's museum...
Wait, did we go camping in the great outdoors? Nah, we just went to Cabela's...
Look out...Look OUT...LOOK OUT...
SUNDAY: Today was the rainiest day of them all. We decided to head to the pool and perfect our strokes just in case we needed them for any impending floods.
We're ready to go, we are so excited, we swam for about 30 minutes before some poor child barfed in the water and we had to evacuate. Barf in the Pool = Crying Kids Crying Kids = Ice Cream at Moras...
Rainy days are movie days. We are off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz...
Even the cat refuses to labor...
I am not sure yet what tomorrow will bring. I do know that we are to be at our friends' house at 4pm for an End of Summer, Hello School party. I can promise you, though, that I will not be laboring in the meantime.
